July 4th, or Independence Day, is celebrated in honor of the 1776 adoption of the U.S. Constitution. As our nation’s birthday, family gatherings, picnics and BBQs are going on everywhere. Many a community celebrate their patriotic pride together too. Flower Mound is an excellent community in which to celebrate the holiday. With our annual Independence Fest, you get all the family activities you could want to do together, live entertainment, and of course, a spectacular firework show.

Admission is free and all ages are welcome. There are several activities to enjoy, and kicking off the festivities will be the annual Children’s Parade at 10:00 am. Centered around the LISD School Administration Building, children are invited to participate in the parade with decorated bicycles and other non-motorized vehicles. There is also a free Kid’s Zone, hot dogs, and drinks available.

Also featured is a gathering for enthusiasts and fans of classic cars. The Time Machine Car Show hosts a competition and display of classic cars and hot rods.

Everyone will be at Bakersfield Park for all the live entertainment and fireworks. Take note however, there is no on-site parking. Instead there are several parking lots which have been opened for Independence Fest. The handy Parking Map on the event website shows which ones, by color, also include a free shuttle, and which ones are within walking distance to the park. Musical performances begin at 5:00 pm with the country-rock group A.A. Bottom, as well as the ‘greatest disco band in the world’, Le Freak. Headlining the sound stage at Independence Fest this year are the Brothers Osborne, a Grammy-nominated country pair. A fireworks show will be the finale of the Independence Fest events, and it will begin at 9:50 pm following the concert.

So, if you’re looking for an Independence Day event that’s entertaining and engaging for the whole family, Independence Fest is sure to be a good time. Here in Flower Mound, we love to come together as a community in celebration. I also enjoy being able to come together with my clients and help them with all their real estate needs.
